Curating the Digital Expanded |
数字策展

The original issue in April 2020 compiled a series of perspectives on artmaking and curating that consider forms of production through contemporary digital networks as well as increased reliance on digital technologies across Europe. We considered the issue as a much-needed start to discuss curating under digital conditions on our platform. This bilingual issue and translation include articles and interviews across new perspectives alongside selected contributions from the original issue to revisit, translate and make new the perspectives and contexts to a wider audience. Each interview, artwork, and article think through contemporary practices that rework or examine what the relationship of place, automation, labour, and archives have in relation to technological effects in physical and digital curating and arts production. Interviews focus on art practice and digital artmaking and how the digital is an asset in the making and communication of art and society. We are excited to present and bring together the thoughts and words of such a variety of strong and needed voices that exist in the art, political, and academic worlds.
